Our wide range of services is tailored to support this mission.

What is Pet Rehab

Pet rehabilitation therapy is dedicated to identifying and treating conditions that cause pain or limit movement, particularly those affecting the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. The focus is on improving mobility, enhancing comfort, and supporting a better quality of life. Through evidence-based methods, individualized care plans, and a compassionate approach, rehabilitation helps pets regain strength, manage pain, and return to doing the things they love.

Water Therapy – Underwater Treadmill

A low-impact, therapeutic exercise designed to strengthen muscles and improve mobility in patients with limited movement. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints while providing resistance to build strength and enhance overall function.

Laser Therapy

A non-invasive treatment that uses focused light energy to stimulate healing at the cellular level. It helps reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and accelerate tissue repair in pets recovering from injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions. Safe and painless, laser therapy is commonly used to support joint health, relieve muscle tension, and enhance overall recovery.

Shockwave Therapy

A non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in injured tissues. It helps reduce pain, improve circulation, and accelerate recovery in pets with joint, tendon, ligament, or muscle conditions. This advanced therapy is especially effective for chronic pain and hard-to-heal injuries—getting your pet back to feeling and moving better, faster.

PEMF Therapy – Pulsed Electromagnetic Field

PEMF therapy uses gentle electromagnetic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. This non-invasive treatment helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and manage pain—making it especially helpful for pets with arthritis, chronic discomfort, or recovering from injury. Safe and soothing, it’s a powerful tool for long-term pain relief and improved well-being.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is the foundation of your pet’s overall health, healing, and vitality. A balanced, tailored diet supports joint health, boosts energy, aids recovery, and helps manage chronic conditions. Whether your pet is healing from surgery, dealing with inflammation, or just needs a wellness boost, personalized nutritional guidance ensures they get the right fuel to feel their best—inside and out.

Conditioning

The process of improving a pet’s physical fitness, strength, endurance, and overall performance through targeted exercises and activities. It helps maintain or enhance mobility, prevent injury, and support recovery from illness or surgery. Conditioning is tailored to each animal’s specific needs and goals, promoting optimal physical function and long-term well-being.

Pain Management

Pain can limit your pet’s ability to move, play, and enjoy life. Our pain management approach combines advanced therapies, personalized care plans, and gentle support to reduce discomfort and improve quality of life. Whether your pet is recovering from surgery, dealing with arthritis, or managing a chronic condition, we’re here to help them feel more comfortable—every step of the way.

Post-Surgery Pain Management & Strengthening

Recovery after surgery is a critical time for your pet’s healing. Our post-surgical care focuses on managing pain, reducing inflammation, and gently rebuilding strength and mobility. Using a combination of therapies—like laser, PEMF, and guided exercise—we help your pet recover safely and comfortably, so they can return to a more active, happy life with confidence.

Neuro-Specific Rehabilitation

Designed for pets with neurological conditions, this specialized therapy focuses on reactivating and retraining the nervous system. Through targeted physical stimulation and advanced techniques like NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation), we help “wake up” weakened muscles and encourage proper nerve function. These therapies support coordination, balance, and mobility—helping your pet regain control and confidence with each step forward.

Mobility Assistance Devices

When pets have trouble walking, standing, or maintaining balance, mobility assistance devices can make a world of difference. These tools are designed to support pets with temporary injuries, chronic conditions, or age-related mobility challenges, helping them stay active and independent.

Common Devices We Recommend and Fit Include:

  • Slings & Harnesses: Offer support for pets with weak limbs or recovering from surgery. Great for helping pets up stairs or outside for walks.
  • Wheelchairs & Carts: Custom-fit devices for pets with hind limb weakness or paralysis, allowing them to move comfortably and confidently.
  • Boots & Traction Aids: Improve stability and prevent slipping on slick surfaces—especially helpful for senior pets or those with neurological issues.
  • Orthotics & Braces: Provide joint support and alignment for conditions like carpal/tarsal instability or ligament injuries.

How We Help

At HVSE, we evaluate your pet’s individual needs and work with trusted manufacturers to ensure proper fitting and comfort. We also provide training for both pets and owners on how to safely use mobility devices at home and during therapy sessions.

Customized Treatment Plans

The Rehab Specialty provides rehabilitation and pain management services for pets. Our team creates treatment plans tailored to the individual needs and conditions of each animal. Physical evaluations are conducted by an experienced doctor to develop customized in-clinic rehabilitation plans and at-home exercise plans to aid in recovery and strength building. Our specialists collaborate with your surgeon and/or primary care veterinarian to create an optimal treatment plan aimed at enhancing your pet’s recovery and functionality. The goal is to improve the well-being of pets through rehabilitation care.
